Jurgen Klopp feels that Liverpool did not play to the best of their capabilities against Newcastle. During the game Klopp observed that his team did not posses the danger that won them the Champions League in the 2018-19 season.
Jurgen Klopp has never seen Liverpool in such a sorry state before. A routine game against the Tyneside club caused a lot of struggle for the Merseyside Reds.
In an interview on 24th April 2021, Klopp said, “When I see a game, I can tell guess the level of dedication my team needs to have to beat their opponents.”
Liverpool have plenty of work to do in their remaining games if they are to play in the #UCL next season.

“But against Newcastle they did not have desire to beat their opponents. Hence they played like they don’t deserve the Champions League next year” said Klopp.
Liverpool won the Champion League outright in the 2018-19 season. But they have now struggled to win games against mid-table sides in the EPL. The issues behind Liverpool’s crisis would be their lack of a goalscorer and a defensive rock. But most importantly they need the mentality to win games in the EPL and the CL.
These issues were highlighted in both the legs of the Quarter Finals against Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp witnessed over the two legs against the Los Blancos how Liverpool could not have the last say.

Since the beginning of this seasons Champions League, Liverpool did not have such a dominant approach with their performances. Despite winning the group stage with a hands-down approach.
Jurgen Klopp in his first season in the UCL with Liverpool, the German took the Merseyside Reds to the finals of the Tournament and lost against Real Madrid. In his second season in the European competition he won the competition by beating Tottenham in the finals. From then on, Klopp struggled to take the Reds past the Quarter Finals of the UCL.
Therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s fears are justified and for Liverpool to end up in the Champions League again, they need to up their game.
