Jurgen Klopp has no decision behind sending Van Dijk for the Euro 2020
The Dutch defender is out of the Liverpool squad since the Merseyside derby in October 2020, where he received an ACL injury in his right knee. Later that month, Virgil underwent successful surgery and reported his absence for six to seven months.
Recently, Van Dijk is undergoing a rehab process along with Jordan Henderson in Annfield. The Reds’ captain suffered a hamstring injury in a reverse Merseyside in February 2021.
Both the footballers are considered as the best players in their respective country, thus they both might get a call to play in the upcoming Euro. However, both the players are not completely fit, and so they might also miss the tournament.
The Red’s boss also said on this topic that they are still recovering but if the national squad seems them fit then they should go and furthermore Klopp stated having no hands behind the decisions of the national squads of Netherlands and England.
“I don’t want to take a player away from England or Holland, if they’re ready, they’re ready. It’s not down to me to make these decisions,” reported Jurgen Klopp regarding Van Dijk and Henderson. “I have no idea about the Euros. Nothing has changed. They are where they should be at the moment.”
