“It’s a club that everyone in my family supports” says new Arsenal recruit Amani Richards

Amani Richards, the new Arsenal recruit has stated “It’s a club that everyone in my family supports.” The young prodigy posted on his social media accounts that he is up for a move to Arsenal from their direct rival Chelsea.

Richards, who already made his debut in English National colors in the under-16 category was seen unzipping a black jacket and showing an Arsenal shirt inside, in a 50 seconds clip posted by him on his Instagram account. The young gunner seemed elated about his first professional contract and he could not be more pleased about it.

The 16-year-old wonderkid conveyed on the clip-on joining his new club, “Signing for Arsenal, my boyhood club, it’s just a great thing. It’s a club that everyone in my family supports. Everyone around me supports Arsenal.”

The former Stamford Bridge-based talent further asserted, “I mean I always wanted it to happen eventually, but it happening now is just a great thing. Just really, really excited to get going.”

Richards seems fit enough for young Arsenal ranks

As far as the big clubs are concerned, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Manchester United, for instance, fail to provide enough game time for their younger players. As a result, the players with bright prospects tend to look away from the clubs they have grown up playing somewhere else to find the enough game time.

Despite his young age, the Briton is already believed to have played for Chelsea – U18s, meaning the North London club can directly promote him to the U-18 club, from there on to the first team subsequently.

Adding on, Amani is not the first player to swap Chelsea for Arsenal in recent years. Youngsters like Eddie Nketiah and Jason Sraha also swapped Stamford Bridge for Emirates Stadium back in 2015 and 2019 respectively.

Arsenal, however, is yet to confirm the youngster’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium and officially unveil him to the world as a Gunner.
