FC Bayern coach insists for “right attitude” towards Leipzig clash after Robert Lewandowski injury

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich’s talisman Robert Lewandowski suffered a knee injury in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifier match against Andorra. The club’s coach Hansi Flick called up for positive momentum against Leipzig despite their star player being ruled out.

This was supposed to be a rather formal match for Poland, but Robert’s injury made the situation much worse. The Polish is out for almost four weeks and will miss his club Bayern Munich’s next encounter against RB Leipzig.

Leipzig are a very good team as they’re just 4 points behind Bayern. They can have the slender chances to win the match against Munich and eventually go onto win the Bundesliga.

Flick, in that regard, conveyed in a press conference, “It is crucial that you go into the game with the right attitude. Leipzig have very fast players. At this level, it is important that every player delivers their top performance.”

The reigning player of the year has always been a pivotal figure for the German giants. In a tweet posted by FC Bayern Munich’s official Twitter handle, the Bavarian manager further asserted, “These are situations you have as a coach. I’m sorry for the player. It is clear that Robert is an important player. We have to see how we can solve it and have players who can play this position.”

Robert Lewandowski and Bayern, a match made in heaven?

Lewandowski, 32 has scored 40 goals in 32 matches for Bayern in all three major competitions. With this injury, Bayern will surely miss their top player in a battle everyone’s waiting to experience.

Bayern is the current league leader of the Bundesliga with 61 points with Leipzig following up closely with 57. However, Bayern drew both the matches they played against Leipzig under their current coach Hansi Flick. It will be interesting to see how the Bavarians fare against their title rivals in the absence of  Robert Lewandowski.
