Jesse Lingard did not play as Manchester United beat West Ham by one-nil on March 15th, 2021. Due to his absence, the Hammers were not up-to-the-mark in the game at Old Trafford.

West Ham manager David Moyes understood the value of the twenty-eight-year-old Englishman. So, he will offer Lingard a permanent contract to remain with the Hammers beyond this season.

Before the Arsenal game on April 4th, 2021, Moyes announced his intention to keep Jesse in his squad. In an interview on March 20th, 2021, he said, “We will talk to him regarding his contract at the end of the season. For now, we have not thought further on the matter, as we are happy with whatever he is doing for us now. I am happy for Jesse Lingard, especially for his performances since joining us. We are waiting for his return to the team. Jesse looked really good in training, and we hope he can help make the string on our bow stronger with his attacking prowess.”

Jesse: Before and After

In the current season, Lingard was at Manchester United prior to his move to West Ham on January 30th, 2021. At Old Trafford, he had recorded two appearances till January.

Growing frustrated at his lack of game time with United, Jesse moved to the London Stadium. Once there, he made an immediate impact by recording four goals and two assists in six Premier League appearances. His admittance in the Hammers line-up prompted them to win games that they would have customarily waved the flag of surrender for.

Jesse Lingard is an exciting player, and there should be no doubt in David Moyes’s mind to sign the exciting playmaker before he treads on to fresher pastures.

Moreover, West Ham Chairman David Gold is impressed with the youngster. He has hinted to Moyes he would sign Lingard permanently no matter what over a Twitter post.

The West Ham co-owner and chairman have come under fire on many occasions for the ridiculous transfers he has sanctioned over the years. However, West Ham fans have eased up on the eighty-four-year-old after recruiting Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.

The London club’s faithful supporters had protested against Gold and his partner David Sullivan following another terrible start to the 2020-21 EPL season. The emergence of Lingard in the Hammers side has seen previous allegations against the West Ham owners squashed for now.

Furthermore, Jesse Lingard has pushed West Ham to the fifth spot on the Premier League table. This guarantees Europa League football for the Hammers next season.

However, the final decision will be made by Manchester United, who are missing an element with a Jesse Lingard-sized hole in their squad. If they come back for the Englishman, with UCL football’s prospect, Jesse will move back to Manchester. He will hope his performances at West Ham will allow him to play in the prestigious tournament next season.
