Calvert-Lewin pushes Everton to fight for “Top Four”

Calvert-Lewin implores his team, Everton, to fight for a spot in the top four. Subsequently, the England international grows frustrated with the mid-table position his team always occupies in the Premier League table.

In an interview on March 12th, 2021, he said, “It is the dream for every team in the EPL to achieve the top four spots on the points table. Moreover, the teams who are in those spots get to play in the Champions League. I want the same for my team and believe that it is foolish for any team to not want that. I hope next season my team will play to achieve that.”

Calvert-Lewin says his team must fight for the top four this season and the upcoming seasons as well

Consequently, Dominic’s worry for his team is justified. The Englishman joined the Toffees from Sheffield United on August 31st, 2016. Following his move, Calvert-Lewin recorded thirty-seven goals and nine assists in a hundred and thirty-seven Premier League appearances. He has been with the Merseyside Blue’s for five years. He has never seen them finish above the seventh (safe-haven). Except for the current season because they have attained the sixth position. This season Everton is four points away from the top four, and Calvert-Lewin is motivating his team to achieve it. He has recorded thirteen goals in twenty-four appearances in a bid to convince his team to strive forward.

However, should the Toffees not live up to the twenty-three-year-olds expectations, he could look elsewhere for a team that can give him his dream.

Calvert-Lewin one of three replacements for want-away Man U star Edinson Cavani

Manchester United can give Calvert-Lewin Champions League football and consistency in the top four

Edinson Cavani could move to Boca Juniors this summer, according to talks originating from Old Trafford. If the Uruguayan leaves, which could replace him, is the question on Manchester United coach Ole Solsjaer. Subsequently, three candidates can replace him, and they are Erling Haaland, Andre Silva, and Calvert-Lewin. Consequently, Haaland and Silva are great names, but a move to the Premier League would require a bit of transition from the Bundesliga playing style they are accustomed to.

Hence Calvert-Lewin would be the intelligent decision to make. The Red Devils have excellent relations with the Toffees as they bought Romelu Lukaku from them on July 10th, 2017, for seventy-five million pounds. The Belgian went on to score twenty-eight goals for them in sixty-eight appearances. Manchester United hopes for a similar impact from Calver-Lewin and therefore have him on their shortlist.

Therefore, if Calvert-Lewin leaves, the doors of Old Trafford will welcome him in without hesitation. It now depends on Everton and their desire for the top four and Champions League football to convince their star player that staying with them will not become a regret in the future.
