Aguero and Manchester City have shocked their fans by announcing the exit of the Argentine. The decision came to be following Pep Guardiola’s revelation that he cannot offer minutes on the veteran’s field. In his time at the Etihad Stadium, Kun had been their most prolific striker, and there were only a few who compared with him. He also managed to win the prestigious golden boot in the 2014-15 EPL season.

Aguero, before the final decision, dismayed his frustrations as a bench warmer. Thus he promptly decided to end his nine-year association with the Citizens on March 30th, 2021. The Argentine’s decision would bring the end of an era at Manchester City, and the City fans would be displeased with his exit from the Etihad Stadium.

In a statement released by the Argentine, he wrote, “I have made an indestructible bond with the City. It is hard to let go, but that is what I have to do since my time is up.”

Sergio Aguero hinted at the possibility of him playing football next season as he wrote, “I will be on a different platform. This platform will have its own challenges. I will face them with the same passion as I did for Manchester City.”

Aguero making such a hint could suggest that talks with Barcelona are progressing. Soon he can play alongside his best friend Lionel Messi at Camp Nou with Barcelona president Joan Laporta looking to secure Kun’s signing.

Is Barcelona the right choice for Sergio’s next move?

There have always been talks of the Argentine superstars playing under one banner. Though the negotiations never materialized, Aguero’s interest in playing for the five-time Champions League winners was evident.

The new manager at Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, is looking to recruit more Dutch players and Kun would contradict his wishes. His presence can be a blessing in disguise for the Dutchman since he is an experienced player.

Barcelona lacks in goals without the presence of Messi, and he, too, is looking to leave. By bringing in Aguero, they can take care of two birds with one stone. This means that they would get a seasoned goalscorer and give Leo10 a reason to remain at the Camp Nou. However, considering Barcelona’s predicament, it would not be wise for the Argentine to move there.

Fortunately for Kun, other clubs would take the Argentine striker in. Of the clubs offering him a way out, PSG stands at the top of the list. Le Rouge Et Bleu can offer Sergio the new challenge that he is looking for. In no time, Barcelona and Real Madrid’s era of dominating the UCL will come to an end. Thus allowing teams like PSG and Borussia Dortmund to lead the fray.

Nevertheless, no matter where Aguero goes, there will always be younger players ahead of him on account of his age. On the other hand, Kun’s departure would confuse who the Citizens should replace him with.

Kun’s exit would leave a gap to be filled, and his overall record of 257 goals and 73 assists in 387 appearances can be replaced by the Belgian striker. Now Manchester City needs only to convince Inter Milan to bid adieu to their star player.

If things had not been rough for the Citizens before, Lukaku looking at Madrid as a better next destination would be brutal news for City. Therefore City needs to move fast and secure his signing before Lukaku pushes for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
