Life seems like going nice and fine for Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin. As per a recent statement by the F1 team, the german driver “already suits us very well” and that “their racing philosophies are 100% the same”.
It’s still the initial days for Vettel at Aston Martin following six glorious years at Ferrari, a team that parted ways with him before the start of the 2021 season.
Still, the 33-year-old driver is making the most of his time at Aston Martin. Formerly known as the ‘Racing point’, the Aston Martin F1 team finished two places above Ferrari to claim the fourth spot in the constructors’ World Championship.
Vettel is asking all the right questions: Otmar Szafnauer
Otmar Szafnauer, the Aston Martin team principal, also talked about the quality and experience brought to the Aston Martin fold by this German driver. According to him, the 33-year-old former F1 Champion is “asking all the right questions” while bringing all his Formula 1 race experience to the team setup.
In one of his recent interviews, Szafnauer has intricated about the healthy working relationship with the four-time former World Champion. He further discussed all their potential plans to take this working relationship to a different level.
“He already suits us very well, We have the same philosophy of how we want to race.“For us, performance is our top priority. We strive to have the fastest car possible. This also applies to other areas, such as the pit crew with the tyre changes.”, Szafnauer told famous sports daily.
“We want to make the most of the races, including victories. That’s what it’s all about, and that’s exactly what Sebastian is about. Our racing philosophies are 100% the same. So we will work very well together to optimise our performance.”
How things are lining up at Aston Martin for Sebastian Vettel?
Following a disappointing end to the 7 year’s partnership with Ferrari that ended disappointingly, Both Aston Martin and Vettel are aiming to re-establish the “fun” factor at the Team fold.
“We can offer him an environment in which racing is fun again, In which it’s a pleasure to be in Formula 1. That’s exactly why most of us do this job,” added Szafnauer.
“What does it mean to have fun? You can ask Seb that yourself. I think it means to him that you get the most out of every branch of the team and the car. This is what this team stands for. We’ve shown that in the past. We cultivated this environment and he was looking for this environment. He will get the best out of us and we will get the best of him.”, Szafnauer continued.
Regardless of how things ended up between Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel last season, the German driver is certainly enjoying his stint with Aston Martin. Still, it would be interesting to see whether this partnership can bring some more rewards and achievements for both the sides in the coming seasons.
