Rossi helps a lot but MotoGP needs successors
Loris Capirossi as the MotoGP Safety Advisor said the organizers needed a new Rossi figure to boost the popularity of motor racing in the future / Speedweek

Valentino Rossi’s career slowly began to fade. However, that does not mean its popularity in the MotoGP arena sank. The proof, every elite class race, almost all the stands are full of loyal fans.

Not a few of them (fans) are willing to pay more just to feel the thrill of racing Rossi on the iron horse race track. That is, although The Doctor does not shine like the 90s, but he remains an idol in the MotoGP arena.

This is what Loris Capirossi felt as a MotoGP Safety Advisor. The former three-time world champion said in recent seasons fans might be bored with Marc Marquez’s dominance.

The absence of racers capable of defeating Marquez’s superiority on the racetrack made the Repsol Honda rider unbeatable. But the MotoGP performance remains an interesting spectacle every weekend.

“There is always continuous evolution, social media and television interests are very much, but it is also important to have the right character and racer figure. Rossi has helped us a lot in the last few years, he is a great character,” Capirossi said to La Gazzetta dello Sport, as published Sportal, Monday (10/14/2019).

Capirossi added that Rossi is now 40, but he still hasn’t shown retirement racing. His desire to win the race even more burning.

“Rossi still has many desires, he is still trying to improve and there is no intention to retire and this is positive. However, at the same time we need to look for new talents, young drivers, maybe Italians to continue what Rossi has done, even if it’s not easy, “he continued.

Finding a racer who has charisma and courage like Rossi doesn’t just turn the palm of the hand. It took a process for the team to monitor the potential of drivers who if they had abilities similar to the nine-time world champions in four different classes.
