Debate has raged on over whether Cristiano Ronaldo is faster than Usain Bolt after the world-record holder and multiple Olympic champion expressed his admiration for the footballer.
Sprinting legend Usain Bolt believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘definitely’ quicker than him and has hailed the former Real Madrid star as a ‘super athlete’
In what was a highly decorated and accomplished track career, Usain Bolt set multiple records, with his breakthrough performance coming at the Olympic Games where he won three gold medals in sprint events in addition to setting two world records.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in history and the fastest man in the world but he has thrown his weight behind Ronaldo, stating his admiration for the fact that the Madeira native still performs at the highest level on a weekly basis.
“For sure Cristiano [is faster than me],”
“For me he works out every day, he is a super athlete.
“He’s always on top of his game, he works hard and he is focused. Right now I definitely think he would be faster than me.”
In light of his comments, opinion has turned to whether Cristiano Ronaldo is faster than Usain Bolt, with many believing the football legend can hold his own with the track icon, while others believe this is not possible.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in history
Usain Bolt retired in 2017 and tried his hands at getting a professional career in football, undergoing several trials at clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners, although nothing ultimately came of his ambition.
He has expressed his life-long admiration for Manchester United and is a regular fixture at major football tournaments.
Cristiano Ronaldo, for his part, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of his sport and he has rewritten the record books at every turn in his career.
His iconic career has seen him represent the likes of Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus with distinction, while he has also captained Portugal to the most successful period in the country’s history.
He has also won a swathe of individual honors, including five Ballons d’Or, FIFA Best awards and several Golden Boots.
Is Cristiano Ronaldo faster than Usain Bolt?

Debate has raged over whether Ronaldo is faster than Usain Bolt
This debate is rather subjective, as the fact that both men competed in different sports means it is virtually impossible to settle on a winner.
Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to defy the odds and recorded the fastest speed at the entire 2018 World Cup, clocking 34km/hr at the age of 33 and he had earlier run the distance of 96 meters in just 10 seconds in 2012.
However, it is pertinent to note that these fall well below the speeds recorded by Usain Bolt during his career, with the Jamaican icon currently holding the world record for 100 meters in just 9.58 seconds.
While Ronaldo might be faster while running with the ball at his feet, it is highly unlikely that he would be able to hold his own on the track against the sprinting legend.
