Defending EPL champions, Liverpool has finally opened the doors to their new training ground in Kirby. Named as Liverpool’s AXA training center, the facility will serve as a new home for their match preparations and training.
It took almost 722 days for the construction to finish, and the club honored this occasion by installing a steel Time capsule at the facility. The time capsule is carrying all the artifacts, experiences, and memories related to the club’s rich legacy.
This Time capsule will be opened sometime in the future to make the future generations of Liverpool players aware of the club’s rich history and legacy.
The time capsule is positioned outside the visitor’s entrance to the center, and one can locate it with its surreal artwork and granite paving.
This new training center’s inauguration can be termed as a landmark moment in Liverpool football club history. The center is envisioned and crafted by famous architects KSS after taking the notable club members’ inputs and suggestions.
Major highlights of Liverpool’s AXA training center at Kirby
This iconic center spreads around a 9200 sqm area and brings along a combined training facility for the first team and the U23s. Besides, it boasts three full-scale football pitches with attached warm-up and goalkeeping zones.
Speaking of the indoor facilities, the training center brings along two gyms, a full-size sports hall, a swimming pool, a hydrotherapy complex, and dedicated sports rehabilitation suites. Along with these facilities, the players and support staff will get treated with dedicated TV studios, office space, and press conference facilities.
LFC’s managing director Andy Hughes came up with all the emotions and expressions during the official inauguration of Liverpool’s AXA training center. As per him, ‘We started this project over two years ago, marking a significant milestone in this great football club’s history.
“After saying a fond farewell to Melwood last week, we are excited to start a new era at the club, bringing our first team and Academy operations and facilities together on one site for the first time in history’.
“There have been so many people involved in making this great project happen – it is impossible to thank them all as individuals. Our first-team manager Jürgen Klopp, sporting director Michael Edwards, and Academy director Alex Inglethorpe have been instrumental in turning plans into a reality. We must also thank Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and residents for their continued support throughout the delivery of this extended project’’.
“Whilst we would have liked to have celebrated this historic moment together, ensuring public health, safety and wellbeing is our number one priority’’, he further added.
Even Jurgen Klopp was all praise for this new training facility at Kirby. According to him, ‘Today is an extraordinary day for the team – it has been a long time coming. There has been a lot of steps, meetings with architects, designers, everybody.
“The facility is great, and whoever has the chance to visit will be impressed. It is a wonderful building – you have everything you need now and for the future. It’s pretty much perfect’’.
The Reds are flying nice and high in terms of their performance at the moment. So, we can expect this Liverpool’s AXA training center to put more wings to their skills, techniques, and performance over time.
