RB Leipzig Has The Chance to Win the 2019/20 Bundesliga Title
RB Leipzig underwent a good start under the tutelage of Julian Nagelsman. They can sit on top of the Bundesliga standings and are ahead of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Die Roten Bullen currently has 13 points from five matches. Leipzig and Bayern are a team that has never lost in the Bundesliga.
During the preseason, Dortmund got a lot of attention. Lucien Favre’s care team is predicted will be able to undermine the dominance of Bayern in the 2019/20 season.
However, Leipzig was able to steal the attention in the Bundesliga this season. Maybe the club based in the Red Bull Arena is destined to become the champion.
Here are five reasons why RB Leipzig can win the 2019/20 Bundesliga season as reported by Bundesliga.com.
Nagelsmann Factor
Nagelsmann became the youngest coach in Bundesliga history when he led Hoffenheim at the age of 28. Miraculously, he managed to save them from relegation before guiding them to penetrate the Champions League for the first time.
For his achievements, Nagelsman was appointed as Leipzig coach this season. The 32-year-old man is believed to replace Ralf Rangnick at the Red Bull Arena.
Nagelsmann now manages to bring Die Roten Bullen to challenge Bayern in the race for the Bundesliga title this season. Leipzig is currently at the top of the standings after winning four wins and one draw.
Have the best defense
Under Nagelsmann’s care, Leipzig was very solid at the back. They are currently the best defense team in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig has conceded just three goals in five league matches so far. In fact, Die Roten Bullen has a better record of conceding than some of the league leaders in other leagues such as PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The solid defense shown by Leipzig is also inseparable from the performance of young duo Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate. In addition, goalkeeper Peter Gulasci also played a big role under the crossbar.
Last season is no different
While all the attention was on Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig was quietly able to finish third in last season. Interestingly, Ralf Ragnick’s troops are only 12 points behind Bayern and 10 behind Dortmund.
Leipzig only lost six league games in the last season. They only lost once at home and are now unbeaten in nine matches at the Red Bull Arena.
Leipzig is arguably no stranger to competition at the top of the Bundesliga after winning second place in their inaugural season under Ralph Hasenhüttl in 2016/17. Nagelsmann is expected to be the first coach to give success to Die Roten Bullen.
Score a lot of goals
With Werner and Yussuf Poulsen, Leipzig had two of the 10 top scorers in the Bundesliga last season. Werner scored 16 goals in the league, while Poulsen was behind the German striker with 15 goals.
Leipzig has scored 13 goals in the first five matches of the season and has only lost fertility to Bayern (16) and Dortmund (15). Werner has returned to sharp form this season after packing five goals so far. The 23-year-old also scored a hat trick when he met Borussia Monchengladbach.
Dead ball specialist Marcel Sabitzer has scored twice. While Poulsen and new player Christopher Nkunku only scored one goal. Nagelsmann also still has rising stars Matheus Cunha and Ademola Lookman, whose loan period from Everton has been made permanent.
