The Portugal Grand Prix.

Portugal Grand Prix got the vacant slot for the third round on 2 May for Formula 1 in 2021.

For the past few weeks, F1 fanatics were waiting for the venue of the third round of Formula 1. Finally, the wait is over with the revelation of Autodromo Internacional do Algarve to hold the event. However, some doubts lingered regarding the safety issues amidst the global pandemic situation.

Recently, both the F1 officials and the circuit organizers were going through discussions. Finally, they went with the plan to host the event in the Algarve region. With Portugal set to host the third event, it is official that Bahrain will hold the opening round of Formula 1 in 2021.

Why Portugal Grand Prix is complicating?

With Portugal set for the vacant slot, it also gave rise to certain complications for the coronavirus restrictions in the United Kingdom. Subsequently, Portugal is there in the ‘red list’ of 33 countries in the United Kingdom. Hence, the listed countries are subject to quarantine restrictions and strict travel rules.

Therefore, it is impossible for the UK-based teams to return home before the Spanish Grand Prix on May 9, 2021. Because of the ten-day lockdown period, the staff will stay in Europe for a longer period.
