Tony Bellew believes his former opponent, Oleksandr Usyk, can become a heavyweight boxing world champion by defeating Deontay Wilder. However, Bellew warned he would not defeat all the great boxers in the Heavyweight.
Usyk’s initial verification of whether he was able to overcome the pressure in him in competition in the Heavyweight will be answered when his debut against Chazz Witherspoon tonight when the United States. Can Usyk shine on his debut?
However, Bellew believes Usyk can achieve his goal of becoming a world heavyweight champion if he targets WBC champion Deontay Wilder as his opponent. How to? Next is Sky Sports’s interview with Bellew.
What are Usyk’s strengths and weaknesses?
Being there with him, you immediately see that he is always doing something and makes you think every step of the way. His leg movements could not be trusted for such a large man, and it was his belief that made him in a position to be attacked.
To his weakness, I still think he’s a bit open and can be attacked. Witnessing his amateur fight, there has always been a reaction from him, but no one has exploited so far in the pros. His chin opens sometimes and if it continues it might be fatal.
What did you do the most when fighting it?
Dropping it was difficult because, as I said, his footsteps were steady. I tried to be close, but every time I made more resistance than that, he was too difficult to conquer. His feet will make it move very far, and the techniques of deception and carrying out attacks are also impressive. “
How can you hurt Usyk?
The answer is simple, but executing it is another matter. You have to hit it cleanly. There are several opportunities from amateurs where he is trapped and he doesn’t like it. Landing that punch will be difficult because he is a fighter with brilliant defense, but I think if you can find the target there is a chance he might lose. Doing that is a difficult task.
How to prepare when moving to heavyweight?
It is much easier and I think Usyk will like it every minute. I have struggled in the 79.3Kg Class and Explorer Class for most of my career so that making weight and diet has always been something I don’t like.
Don’t get me wrong, you can’t just cover your face, but eating the right foods as much as you want is fine and it takes away the pressure of having to gain weight. That is the biggest difference for me. Things become different when you are dealing with a bigger man, but that is a must if you want to go in there and do it seriously.
From Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Deontay Wilder, who could Usyk be most likely to defeat?
Wilder, and that’s an easy answer. I just think (Joshua and Fury) is too big for him. Basically, he’s a much better boxer than all of them, and I included Fury in that, but he was too small to compete with them for 12 rounds. I think the size of Fury and Joshua will be a big advantage and I don’t think Usyk can handle it.
Will Usyk win the world heavyweight title?
Yes. If he will fight against Andy Ruiz tomorrow, then I think he will win the fight by being himself and doing his best. There are only a few people who I don’t see winning against him, but so far he is the most skilled fighter in the division and that will always give him a chance. Watching his movements there will be interesting and I wish him the best. He is a great fighter and I’m sure he will do well.
