Former world No.1 player Novak Djokovic led Serbia to the ATP Cup semifinals with an unbeaten record. Djokovic was the one who decided to qualify for Serbia after his second single conquered Canadian Denis Shapovalov 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) at Ken Rosewall, Sydney, Australia, Friday (10/1).

‘It was an extraordinary match. One of the tightest matches I have ever played against Denis. It was a very balanced match. He played fantastically, was very aggressive, served superbly. We fought both of them until the last shot,’ Djokovic said.

Dusan Lajovic gave Serbia a 1-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against #NextGenATP, Felix Auger-Aliassime. ‘I can say that I feel much more comfortable today than in Brisbane and I felt quite relaxed and positive on the pitch from the first point,’ Lajovic said.

In the doubles sector, Nikola Cacic and Viktor Troicki perfected the Serbian victory to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Peter Polansky and Adil Shamasdin. Cacic and Troicki saved the only breakpoint they faced during the 58-minute meeting.

In the semifinals, Djokovic and his friends will meet Russia who won the previous day 3-0 over Argentina. An exciting duel will be presented when Djokovic clashes with the Russian mainstay, Daniil Medvedev.
