Justin Fields to be considered as the “second-best quarterback” after Trevor Lawrence in 2021 NFL draft, remarks Marcus Spears

The NFL draft is around the corner, and we are less than a month away from the 2021 NFL draft, and many quarterbacks are popping up in the limelight. However, among all the quarterbacks, Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence will be the first choice for many NFL teams.

Although Lawrence and Fields will start the rookie year, both of them had a great college football career that is comparable with the professional NFL players.

Lawrence has one of the most celebrated careers by a quarterback in college football history for the 2018-20 seasons. He single handedly led Clemson to the national championship as a true freshman in 2018. Until 2020 he served as the face and voice of football. He concluded the college football career 34-2 as a starter.

On the other hand, Field just completed an utmost statistical season at Ohio State and finished their college football career 20-2 as a starter. Seemingly Fields has slightly lower performance than Lawrence.

This year Ohio State hit hard with the COVID but Fields in a lot of ways. “His completion percentage went from 67 to 70%. He averaged nearly 30 more passing yards per game. Add it all up; he has the second-highest career total Q.B.R. by any player since the metric was first used in 2004,” ESPN’s analyst Marcus Spears said about Fields.

Fields joined Ohio State in 2019, and he led Buckeyes to reach the college football playoffs. In the 2019 season, Justin completed 15 touchdowns along with five interceptions.

With the Buckeyes, Fields ran 2,100 yards and completed 70.2 passing percent. Besides, 22 touchdowns in just eight games were phenomenal.

Now that Justin Fields is ready to get drafted, few top-ranked teams are waiting to grab him. However, Trevor Lawrence will get the priority first due to his recent performance at Tigers. Seemingly the teams will get in the competition to unite with any of these quarterbacks.
