Carolina Panthers Have ‘a Leg up’ in Having QB Post Sam Darnold’s Exit from NY Jets, Opines Mel Kiper

Sam Darnold has a new home at Carolina Panthers

Three years after applauding Sam Darnold as a franchise savior, the New York Jets finally traded him to the Carolina Panthers on Monday. This trade ceased the months of intense speculation about the Panthers’ quarterback plans.

Carolina has been looking to upgrade from their current quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, since last season. However, they could not find any suitable replacement in the entire last year.

Now that NY Jets offered the trading, they did not want to miss the opportunity. With this trade, the Carolina Panthers just added one more weapon to their roster.

However, the Panthers always tend to keep their offense upright, and Sam Darnold just boosted their offense position.

Compared to other teams, Panther certainly got the advantage by adding Darnold to the roster. “New Orleans is now figuring it out as a quarterback so this gives the panthers a leg up in terms of getting their young quarterback, ESPN’s analyst Mel Kiper said.

Who wins from this trade Carolina Panthers or NY Jets?

It is a win-win situation for both Panthers and Jets. Carolina gained a young stable quarterback who can lead the team in the future. Besides, the Panthers will not need to think about another replacement for the next few years.

In return for Darnold, the Jets received three picks: a sixth-rounder in the 2021 draft later this month and a second-rounder and fourth-rounder in 2022.

Now that the Jets released Darnold, they will look for more rookies to hire for the next few seasons. They can buy three best rookies over the next two years and pair them up with the current players.
