Cam Newton Has More Value Than He Was Signed up for According to Max Kellerman

Cam Newton

Cam Newton is getting a one more year extension with the New England Patriots. He joined the team following Tom Brady’s departure in early 2020. However, he resigned the contract for $14 million for one year.

The 31-year-old had a great season with the Patriots, and they ended with a 7-9 record. However, they missed the playoffs, but Newton did his part for the team. However, ESPN’s analyst Max Kellerman thinks Newton is underpaid in his first season with the Patriots. “Belichick signed him for 1.75 million in 2020. He paid 1.75 million for cam last year did he get up 1.75 million in value he got more than that now just remember this,” Kellerman said.

After coming back from a catastrophic, the Doughboy joined Patriots and showed promise early, despite the abbreviated offseason. However, Patriots understood the necessity of Newton when he landed on the COVID-19 list to begin October.

So, New England Patriots put every effort to keep Cam Newton in the rooster. However, Newton will make much more than the last season. However, the $14 mission is still a bargain considering the quarterback market. Patriots were close to $70 million under the salary cap for 2021, and hiring Newton by allotting 20 percent of that is not a hefty amount.

Max thinks this $14 million deal is still underpayment for Newton. “You know Belichick does not overpay players and certainly doesn’t overpay quarterbacks he won’t do it he’s just not going to do it,” Max conveyed. The 31-year-old quarterback deserves more than that. Kellerman explained, “Plays away from being nine and seven that was for 1.75 million belichick just gave cam 14 million I mean it’s like 8 million in I think it was eight and guaranteed another six based on incentives but for 1.75 he got that cam what do you think is expecting for for eight to fourteen if anything he’s going to get more value than that that’s an interesting move by belichick”

Since Cam Newton signed for one year only, he will have opportunities to ask for more in the next contract. Besides, he will also have the opportunity to change his team.
