2021 NFL Draft: QB Justin Fields Shares a Glimpse of Emotional Moment With His Family After Getting Drafted to Chicago Bears

Justin Fields

Justin Fields was picked up by the Chicago Bears as the 11th overall pick on Thursday night. Many critics had predicted that he would be a top-10 pick for any franchise involved. However, the Bears traded nine spots to get the young QB.

Before the drafts, there was enormous fervor and many discussions about Justin Fields fitting into a NFL franchise. The Ohio State quarterback had lit up the pandemic-stricken season with his skills and had declared to take his talents to the league. Fields did not attend the drafts owing to the pandemic. However, the Chicago Bears Twitter handle posted a series of photos that show that the celebrations were underway at Fields’ house.

About his selection, Fields said, “I’m the kind of guy that thinks that everything happens for a reason. So I think this is God’s plan for me to be a Bear. I’m more than excited and I’m more than ready to get up there for sure.”

Fields has been praised by many legends of the game. Former player and TV analyst Marcus Spears talked about him before the draft. He said, “His completion percentage went from 67 to 70%. He averaged nearly 30 more passing yards per game. Add it all up; he has the second-highest career total Q.B.R. by any player since the metric was first used in 2004.”
