The NBA trade deadline has started, and like every season, the news feed is filled with potential trade rumors. This season’s biggest story is none other than the future of Kyle Lowry with the Toronto Raptors. However, alongside him another Raptors player’s name has also hit the list.
According to renowned NBA insider Brian Windhorst, Norman Powell might get traded to another team on the trade deadline. Windhorst stated about it in a recent ESPN podcast:
“I think right now the Toronto Raptors pretty much control the market, control the trade deadline. Because not only do they have Kyle Lowry, they also have Norman Powell. He’s a very high value rental player. He’s having the best of his career.”
Like Windhorst mentioned, Powell is having a phenomenal year this season. He is averaging a stunning 19.5 points per game while shooting nearly 50% from the field.
Does Norman Powell have a future with the Toronto Raptors?
Despite the trade rumors, as of now, Powell is a Raptors player. Moreover, he is having a career year with the franchise that has increased his trade value in the market. Considering the fact that the Raptors are potentially heading towards a rebuild, it’s likely they will part ways with Powell.

The 27-year-old’s current contract will expire next season which will make him part of the stacked 2022 free agency. Until then, whichever team he might get traded to would work just as a rental, since he will look for a huge contract when he becomes an unrestricted-free agent.
What teams do you believe that Powell might get traded to on the NBA trade deadline? Let us know your honest thoughts in the comments section below.
