The 2020-21 NBA season has been all about redemption for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Last year, they finished in the bottom of the barrel with the worst record in the league. That underwhelming season was the result of season ending injuries to their stars.
However, with everyone being 100% fit, apart from Klay Thompson, the world expected the Dubs to make a grand comeback. So far, that has not been the case for the Warriors.
Not only are they struggling to play at an elite level, the team is very inconsistent. Prior to the NBA All-Star break, the Dubs were looking in great touch as they defeated a couple of opponents. But after the All-Star break that form is gone.
This was quite evident in their soul-crushing defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Dubs never looked in control of the game as they were completely blown out. As a result, they are still out of the playoff race.
Stephen Curry talks about losing against the Lakers
Despite the Warriors’ struggles this season, Stephen Curry is doing his job. The two-time MVP is making a strong case for winning the third MVP of his career, but his teammates are unable to match his pace.
After losing to the Lakers, Curry was asked if there was anything positive from the defeat. He replied:
“Absolutely nothing. The positive is we got a game on Wednesday, there you go that’s the positive.”
Like Steph said, tonight’s performance was utterly disappointing from the Warriors. They looked nothing like themselves and as a result were crushed by the Lakers.
Moving forward, they need to find a way to get a win streak. Otherwise, the season might already be over for the Dubs.
