Stephen A. Smith Declares Kyrie Irving to be a “Show Stopper”

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving has had a sensational career in the NBA so far. After all, those were the expectations from him as he was taken by the number one overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. In just a few years, Irving developed a reputation as one of the best players in the league.

But since leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers, fans have forgotten what Irving is capable of. He is currently playing alongside the likes of Kevin Durant and James Harden. So it’s only natural for fans to focus more on those two former MVPs.

Despite being potentially the third star on the team, Irving has kept up with his production. Thanks to his insane scoring ability and handles, the Nets are the second seed in the East. Even though he is doing so many things for the team, there is hardly anyone who is pushing his name in the MVP race.

This year’s MVP race is quite different from the recent past. Several new names like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid are making a strong case for themselves to take home the award. However, Stephen A. Smith believes Irving should also be included in the race. He explained:

We have been talking about Embiid, we have been talking about James Harden, we have been talking about LeBron James. Kyrie Irving has to be on the league MVP list. The brother’s a showstopper. Let’s jyst call it what it is! The brother is a showstopper, I can’t take it away from him.”
