The Boston Celtics coasted to a comfortable victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday thanks to a sterling effort from Jaylen Brown. Through the course of the game, Brad Stevens and his men had a certain dominance over the Lakers and did not take their foot off the pedal.
However, the fourth quarter was a different story. Stevens fielded his bench and rested his starters because the Celtics had a 27 point lead. That lead started crumbling down in the blink of an eye owing to which Brown had to come back and rescue the game.
After the end of the game, Jaylen Brown talked about how the team is confident about making it to the playoffs and doing well in the postseason. He said, “This is a big win for us. We have been struggling up and down all through the season. We have been better in the second half and are trying to ramp it up a little bit.”
He continued, “We are looking to get Fournier back and we better start getting ready for the playoffs. That is when it’s go time.”
Jaylen Brown leads the Celtics to a win over undermanned Lakers
It was a great performance from the Boston Celtics right from the first quarter. They took the game to the opposition and did not back down from committing fouls or finding scoring opportunities.
Jaylen Brown was the star of the show as he went on to score 40 points for his side. Moreover, he also racked up three assists and nine rebounds during the course of the game. Apart from him, Marcus Smart contributed heavily towards the victory. He finished with 15 points and six rebounds to his name.
In the post-game press conference, Brown said, “The Celtics-Lakers matchup is a matchup that kids dream about, so regardless of who’s on the floor, I’m excited to play. Having that energy with those Lakers fans back in the arena, it feels good to get a win.”
The Boston Celtics are fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. At the moment, they are well in contention for the playoff spots. Moreover, they have a five-game winning streak and will look forward to building upon that ahead of the postseason.
