A few hours ago, the whole NBA world was shocked as it was revealed that Los Angeles Lakers legend Elgin Baylor passed away. The Basketball Hall of Famer left the world at the age of 86 due to natural causes.

After this news broke out, many NBA greats came forward to pay tribute to Baylor. Among them, Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul arguably penned down one of the best messages. Paul Tweeted:

Our game lost a pillar today. Rest in Power to the great Elgin Baylor.”

CP3 labeled Baylor a “Pillar” for the game of basketball. Despite being one of the best players of his generation, Baylor’s name has never been brought in the conversations about the best players in the older era.

During his career in the league, Baylor was a household name for the LA Lakers. Although he failed to win an NBA Championship, he still had numerous accolades to his name. The most notable ones are being a 11x NBA All-Star and 10x All-NBA.

Like Chris Paul mentioned in his tweet, Baylor was truly one of the greatest players of his era and he will forever be missed.

While CP3 definitely wrote a top-notch tweet to honor Baylor, several other NBA entities paid tribute as well. Lakers legend Magic Johnson said:

RIP to the NBA’s first high flyer, Lakers Legend, & Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor. Before there was Michael Jordan doing amazing things in the air, there was Elgin Baylor! A true class act and great man, I’ll always appreciate the advice he shared with me when I first came into the league. Cookie and I are praying for his wife Elaine, kids, and the entire Baylor family.”

Former Lakers star Pau Gasol also gave his condolences and wished for Baylor to be in peace after his death.

Lakers forward Markieff Morris had a similar message about the news.

This is truly a sad day for most NBA fans and they lost another gem of the sport. What was your reaction to finding about this sad news? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
