In a season where the Brooklyn Nets have dominated the entire league and the teams around them, Kyrie Irving has been the most prolific asset in that star-studded squad. He garnered praise from coach Steve Nash after his performance on Wednesday night.
Irving has lit up the NBA with his otherworldly ball-handling and shot-making skills. Not only that, he has a knack for picking the most unexpected passes that catch opposition defenses off guard. With him on board, the Brooklyn Nets look like the perfect championship-contending team.
In the post-game press conference, coach Steve Nash waxed lyrical about his point guard. He said, “He is one of the most skilled basketball players I have ever seen. He is one of the best shot creators and makers. And I say that not just for his size or any build.”
Nash continued, “Kyrie can create and make shots at the highest level and he happens to be 6’2″. It makes the level of difficulty even more remarkable. His accuracy and creativity are exceptional. He is just an unbelievable player and it is fun to watch him every night.”
Kyrie Irving leads the charge against the New Orleans Pelicans
“Uncle Drew” fought valiantly right from the start of the game in order to contain the Pels. They were successful in doing so as the Pelicans were never able to get into a good rhythm.
Kyrie finished the game with 24 points to his name. He also racked up six assists and two rebounds in the 30 minutes he played.
Apart from him, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Durant chipped in with valuable cameos. Durant finished with a whirlwind of 17 points and seven rebounds to his name.
The Brooklyn Nets occupy the top spot in the Eastern Conference with this win. At the moment, they are being considered as the perfect championship contenders.
Moreover, with a roster that has names like Harden and Durant on it, the Nets will be looking forward to keeping their form up in the postseason.
