NBA Rumors: Toronto Raptors To Release Injury-Prone Guard Patricks McCaw

Patrick McCaw

Patrick McCaw is a player who has not been in the best of form in recent times. The three-time championship winner has fallen out of favor with the Raptors management and is willing to look for greener pastures. McCaw has been plagued by injuries this season and has sat out the majority of games.

The 25-year-old was part of the iconic 2018-19 Toronto Raptors team which won the championship. They defeated his former team, the Golden State Warriors, where he also won the first two championships. Now, however, the Raptors front office has released a statement that they are waiving the contract of Patrick McCaw.

According to The Atheltic’s Shams Charania, this abrupt end to the contract can be attributed to the recent slump in form.

The rise and fall of Patrick McCaw

In his early days, McCaw showed a lot of promise with his style of gameplay and match-awareness. In fact, coach Steve Kerr admitted to him being an integral member of the Warriors squad coming off the bench. However, that good phase was short-lived as he went to become a fringe player for the side.

In 2018, he asked to leave the Dubs in search of more playing time. The Warriors front office was not keen on letting McCaw go, but they had no choice. He then joined the Toronto Raptors and was a player who rarely came on in games.

As time progressed, McCaw’s ankle started causing problems and his movement was hindered with many injuries. This finally resulted in the Raptors relieving him of his duties.

Patrick McCaw is a player who has loads of championship experience at a relatively young age. He is a rare commodity in the league and any team will be elated to have him provided he gets fully fit and starts putting in the performances he is known for.
