Marcus Smart Had a “Little Cut Underneath His Armpit” Brad Stevens Lauds the Guard’s Hustle on the Court

Marcus Smart

Boston Celtics fought valiantly for their win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. It was a collective effort from Marcus Smart and team to secure the victory in the closing stages of the game. In fact, they only managed to edge their opponents by one point at the end of the fourth quarter

It was a scintillating performance from the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as they produced match-winning moments. Tatum’s buzzer-beating three was the shot that separated the teams. However, coach Brad Stevens was happy about the way his players showed grit and tenacity.

In the post-game press conference, Stevens praised Marcus Smarts’ tremendous work ethic. He said, “He’s been really good. In a lot of these games, he has been on the point of attack. Tonight I thought he guarded Lillard as good as anybody I have seen. A couple of the shots Lillard made were not on him.”

He continued, “I thought he impacted his game as well as you possibly could. In the past couple of weeks, he has been really good for us. He had a little cut underneath his armpit, which is why he was favoring the other arm. However, it was just a cut.”

Marcus Smart and Tatum lead the Celtics to a nervy victory
