With the inclusion of veteran Andre Drummond in the Lakers squad, Marc Gasol will be pushed to the fringes of the side. Frank Vogel feels that this change is required as Drummond has championship experience and can bring defensive solidity to a side that is already missing LeBron and AD.
This signing was expected by everyone in the Lakers front office ever since Anthony Davis got injured on Valentine’s day. An experienced center can be the core around which a championship side should revolve. Moreover, Marc Gasol simply was a placeholder before someone with more quality arrived.
In a chat with Marc Trudell, the Spanish international expressed his displeasure with this move. He said, “It is a Hard pill to swallow. Because I know I’m going to be out of the lineup at some point. You have to accept it because that’s your job … but it’s not easy.”

Gasol was +20 tonight w/9 boards, 6 assists + 5 points.

This is to be expected from a player who has contributed much to the side in the absence of other stalwarts. Even in Friday night’s game, Gasol played a huge role in the Lakers’ win over the Sacramento Kings.
Marc Gasol and team execute their roles perfectly
Coach Frank Vogel had a serious problem on his hands when it came to selecting a starting five. The Lakers have been severely shorthanded for a number of weeks now and it has started to affect their championship hopes. However, the players he selected did their job perfectly to keep the Kings at bay.
Kyle Kuzma was the star of the show as he finished with a season-high 30 points to his name. Apart from him, Dennis Schroder was at his best in providing dimes and racked up eight assists along with 17 points.

Gasol finished the game with five points and six assists to his name. However, he played his part very efficiently by being solid in defense and getting some crucial rebounds.
Andre Drummond suffered an injury in his very first game as a Laker. Reports have suggested that the toe injury will keep him out for at least a week. This is ample time for Marc Gasol. He will try his best to influence coach Vogel and secure his place in the starting five.
