Magic Johnson Backs LeBron James Over Kevin Durant in Dealing With Pressure Situations

Magic Johnson on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'

The 5-Time NBA Champion Magic Johnson knows a thing or two about pressure situations. Being a three-time Finals MVP, Johnson has often delivered on the big stage. LeBron and Kevin Durant are no strangers to pressure situations themselves. Both players have faced off three times in the finals, with KD getting the better of James twice.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant are the defining players of this generation. Being the best player in the team always comes at a cost. While both LeBron and KD have often delivered in pressure moments, they have had some disappointments too.

NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson was a guest on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’. Fallon put Magic in a spot when he was asked who would he pick between LeBron James and Kevin Durant to take the last shot for his team if they were down with two seconds to go.

The 12-time all-star said, “Yikes! Oh man. Now, you know KD is a scorer and one of the greatest that we have ever seen at that position. But I got to ride the winner too. I got to to ride LeBron because he got more championships than KD.”

Magic choosing LeBron is not really a surprise. Johnson and LeBron have a great relationship, as Johnson was pivotal in bringing LeBron to the Lakers.

Many fans will disagree with Johnson’s pick of LeBron James, as KD is regarded by many as one of the best scorers of all time. While shooting may not be LeBron’s strength, he has hit some clutch shots throughout his career.

If asked, who is more clutch? Both players are extremely important in the final stretch of the game. However, James has shown that he is more of an orchestrator and prefers to make the right decision, even if it means that he does take the last shot, whereas Durant is capable of taking the shot himself and securing the win for his team.
