When the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers face off against each other, temper flares are bound to take place. That is what happened with Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder in the third quarter. With nine minutes left in the quarter, both the players started bickering at each other which resulted in their ejection.
Kyrie Irving stood disappointed with the officials and their decision. So was Dennis Schroder. Even their teammates were seen opposing the decision. While walking off to the locker room, Kyrie took his jersey off and threw it to one of the spectators.
After the ejections, the LA Lakers pulled away for a comprehensive victory. Scintillating performances from Andre Drummond and Schroder resulted in the win. With both the sides severely shorthanded, the Lakers made the most of the situation and capitalized on the defensive frailties.
Kyrie Irving and the Nets lose to a strong Lakers side
This match was a tense affair as both these teams are expected to meet in the finals. However, a solid defensive effort from the Lakers was enough to stop the Nets from going on their free-scoring crusade.
Andre Drummond was the pick of the players as he finished with 20 points to his name. He also racked up 11 rebounds during the course of the game. Apart from him, Dennis Schroder scored 19 points in three quarters and had fours assists to his name.
In the post-game press conference, Schroder said, “Today we were out here competing, making shots and, yeah, that’s the best win of the year I would say.”
The Brooklyn Nets are second in the Eastern Conference standings. At the moment, they are well in contention for the playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers, on the other hand, are fifth in the Western Conference standings. They would like to improve their performances to be in a favorable position before the return of LeBron And AD to the side.
