While injuries have kept Kevin Durant off the court for some time, it has not kept him off social media. The Brooklyn Nets star told a Knicks fan in an Instagram DM that he’d “absolutely love” for a Nets vs. Knicks playoff series. This is not the first time Durant has responded to a fan on social media. He has often found himself in various unpleasant conversations with fans over the years.

The Nets-Knicks is one of the biggest rivalries in the NBA. While the Nets sit at second in the East, the Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA right now. Currently, on an eight-match winning streak, led by Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, the Knicks rank fourth in the Eastern Conference.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 07: Kevin Durant #7 of the Brooklyn Nets reacts after his shot and no foul was called against the New Orleans Pelicans

When the big three of the Nets are healthy and running, it is hard to imagine any team stopping the firepower they possess. Till their respective injuries, both Kevin Durant and James Harden were in the MVP race.

When it comes to the Knicks, they are a team that boasts one of the most stubborn defenses in the league.

The Nets would likely still come out on top against the Knicks, as their offensive weaponry is too great, but the Knicks would make every game a physical dogfight, and that could come back to bite the Nets in the later rounds. The two teams have met in the playoffs three times throughout their history, with the most recent meeting in 2004.

The Knicks are in the midst of a seven-year playoff drought. So it is finally some happy days for the fans in New York as they may be treated to a blockbuster series after 17 years.
