Jesse Lingard vows to Gareth Southgate for his Supportive Role in His Football Career after West Ham loan

Jesse Lingard

Prior to being loaned to West Ham United FC, Jesse Lingard was having a nightmarish run with Manchester United. Although until a few seasons back, Lingard was one of the top performers for the Red Devils, he was not himself for the majority of this season.

As a result, he was loaned out to the Hammers a few months back. Following the deal, Lingard has rejuvenated his career as he has been in sensational form. The 28-year-old has already found the back of the net five times in just seven games with the English side.

Lingard discussed his move to West Ham in a recent interview, and during the interview, the former United midfielder credited a particular person for his move to the Hammers. Lingard said:

“Gareth [Southgate] has shown a lot of support and a lot of belief in me. He was the first one to give me my England debut, which I’m proud of and I still kept in contact with him, even though I wasn’t playing, just to get his advice on what I should do.”

What’s next for Jesse Lingard?

With his club career somewhat stable, the next move for Lingard is to clinch a place in the England squad. With the Euros 2020 almost upon us, the squad for the same will be announced pretty soon.

He has been out of the international squad since 2019, but thanks to his recent blazing form, he has been recalled. This is the opportunity for him to prove his worth again to England’s manager, Gareth Southgate.

Hopefully, he will find his touch and fans will see him re-enter his prime. Do you think Lingard can do that? Or will he fail to impress the manager? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
