“I Don’t Take It for Granted” Russell Westbrook Talks About His Consistency and Setting Up New Records

Russell Westbrook scored his 16th triple-double of the season.

Russell Westbrook proved why he is a huge asset to any team he plays for. He has finally found some form in Washington, something which was evidently missing ever since he got here. The king of triple-doubles produced another masterclass to seal the win for the Wizards.

“Brodie” recorded his 16th triple-double of the season in the game against the Indiana Pacers on Monday. With this, he set up the franchise record for most career triple-doubles. Moreover, he managed to achieve this feat in mere 38 games for the side.

His performance against the Pacers was arguably the most pleasing to watch ever since he got traded from the Rockets. When asked about how he manages to maintain such a high level of effort and consistency and effort in every game, he replied, “I don’t take it for granted. I stay humble and stay true to myself.”

In the post-game press conference, Westbrook talked about his performance out on the court. He said, “One thing that I love and cherish about this game is that I get to go out and compete. One thing I always make sure of is how I leave it all on the floor every single night.”

He continued, “I’ve been blessed with an opportunity to do just that. I will always continue to give everything I have and I pride myself on being consistent enough for my teammates. ”

Westbrook produced videogame-esque stats against the Pacers. He finished with 35 points and 21 assists to his name. Moreover, he also racked up 14 rebounds to his name. Apart from him, Rui Hachimura performed exceptionally well, scoring 26 points for his side.

Coach Scott Brooks was very pleased with the way Westbrook stood with Bradley Beal sidelined due to injury. He said, “He does things that I’ve never seen. He’s a winner, man. He fights. He’s not perfect, and a lot of times the geniuses want to look at the things that he doesn’t do well. But sometimes they forget about the other things that he does well.”

The Washington Wizards are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference standings. At the moment, they are not in contention for the playoffs, and their chances of qualification look very slim. However, Westbrook finally finding his feet is good news for them and they can focus on strengthening their squad for next season.
