Celtics legend Paul Pierce aka ‘The Truth’ has complimented young guard Jayson Tatum. When quizzed on the top three players who reminded him of his playstyle, the legend listed Jayson Tatum at the top of the list. He felt nostalgic as Jayson Tatum reminded him of a younger version of himself, following which Paul pointed at the major similarities that he saw between them.

“Look at his silky smooth game. He reminds me of a younger version of me”.

Paul commended the 22-year-old shot-making capabilities which allow him to take any shot he wants. Along with mentioning the offensive prowess, The Truth pointed out that Tatum is a guy who definitely reminds me of himself.

Paul Pierce has repeatedly suggested that he sees a lot of himself in the young star. In an interview with Chad Finn of Boston.com Pierce conveyed,

“I see a lot of things Jayson does—how he creates space, gets to the hole deceptively, the way he knocks down shots. He’s a real shot-maker; he can get his shot off on anybody. He’s smart. He uses his body well, the way he pushes off with his shoulder to get an open shot. He has a lot of craftiness to his game, and that probably reminds a lot of people of me.

“I see it, I definitely do. I wasn’t the most athletic guy. Tatum is a lot more athletic than I was. He can use either hand. Once he gets a little stronger in the near future, look out. I mean, he’s obviously smart beyond his years.” he added.

Jayson Tatum, who has been a key piece in the Celtics offense, has been having a great season. Averaging a little over 25 points per game in the regular season, the 22-year-old has just been selected as an all-star starter. His effective duo along with Jaylen Brown has the Celtics poised to make the playoffs. However, all-star players such as Luka Doncic and Jimmy Butler also made it to Paul Pierce’s list.
