Got the Most 50’s Ever in a Dunk Contest’ Aaron Gordon Spills the Secret of Wearing Jersey ‘No.50′

Aaron Gordon

Aaron Gordon was recently traded to the Denver Nuggets from the Orlando Magic. Since then, the Nuggets have improved their already exceptional form. An example of that was set again on Thursday night as they beat the star-studded Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.

The Nuggets dominated the game right from the start of the first quarter. They never took their foot off the pedal since then. Outstanding defense and great ball movement amongst all five on the court took the game away from the Clippers.

Coach Michael Malone is of the opinion that Gordon has acted as the catalyst their team desperately needed in order to become championship contenders. In fact, Aaron Gordon had to change his jersey number from ’00’ to ’50’ as rookie Markus Howard already had that number.

In a post-game chat with Dwayne Wade, Gordon funnily quipped about the reason he changes his jersey number. He said, “It spoke to me man. You know I got the most 50’s in the dunk contest. It’s a good number for me.”

He continued, “I feel like it’s strong and powerful and I’m rocking with it.”

Gordon might have had the most 50’s in the dunk contests over the years. However, he has not been the winner on both the occasions he has participated. In 2016, he was part of the iconic clash between Zach LaVine and him, and in 2019 Derrick Jones Jr. took home the honors.

In an all-round performance from every player on the court, the Denver Nuggets added to their winning streak. Jamal Murray was the star of the show as he finished with 23 points. The Canadian also racked up eight rebounds to his name.

MVP favorite Nikola Jokic was not firing on all cylinders in this match. In fact, he was the only player who was not into double-figures at halftime. However, all the other players rallied around him and that resulted in a relatively easy victory for the team from Denver.

The Denver Nuggets are fifth in the Western Conference standings. At the moment, they are well in contention for the playoff spots and have a four-game winning streak in their hands. Coach Malone and his men will surely be looking forward to faring well in the postseason.
