Following that, he has garnered appreciation from the stalwarts of the game like LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

His rise to fame has been exponential. In this season alone, he has given myriad match-winning performances for the Minnesota Timberwolves. During some games, he has steadily managed to outperform some of the veterans like Carmelo Anthony.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Edwards talked about the time he faced off against Melo when the timberwolves hosted the Blazers, In that game, “Ant” did the iconic three-to-the-dome celebration after knocking down a three-pointer while Melo was guarding him.

Anthony Edwards said, “I’m just showing love to Melo. I mean, that’s what he does. He hit a three on me the first time we played and he did me like that.”

He continued, “I was just giving him a taste of his own medicine. That’s all there is to it. It’s all love though, it’s all love.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – APRIL 5: Anthony Edwards #1 talks with D’Angelo Russell #0 of the Minnesota Timberwolves during the game against the Sacramento Kings

The Minnesota Timberwolves have not had the best of seasons so far. Despite their recent dip in form, they will be happy that the first overall draft pick is performing to the best of his abilities.

Moreover, he has started to pair well with some of the important members of the roster like Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. They are well and truly out of the playoff qualifications for this season.

However, they can still take away some positives from this season and strive to come back stronger.

It can be speculated that Anthony Edwards might be able to take the legendary status of Carmelo Anthony in the years to come. However, there is no denying the fact that he is already an NBA legend in the making.
