Frank Vogel Thinks the Lakers’ “Great Defense” Was the Key Factor To Win Against the Cavs Without LeBron and AD

Dennis Schroder

The Los Angeles Lakers broke their losing streak against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. The 100-86 victory came in the back of sterling efforts from Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schroder. Before this game, Critics and analysts were talking about how the Lakers were not dealing well with the absence of their star players. With this win, however, all the doubts have been put to bed.

This game was not a pleasing, easy-on-the-eye performance by no stretch of the imagination. However, the Lakers chipped away at regular intervals and were ultimately able to secure the win after a disastrous capitulation from the Cavs in the third quarter.

Frank Vogel was especially pleased with the performance his team gave all throughout the game. He praised Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Markieff Morris for performing extremely well after the game. Moreover, he credited the team’s “great defense” as the reason for their win.

In the post-game press conference, Vogel talked more about the reason that worked in tandem for them to secure the win. He said, “We struggled in the third quarter for the last couple of games. The mindset was to make this one ours. We planned on having a better defensive disposition. We wanted to make sure that it doesn’t happen to us again.”

He continued, “Our guys came out charged up. Really played great defense and held them to 10 points in the third quarter. A feat that is unheard of in recent times. It was a big factor in the win.”
