Chris Paul Happy With DeAndre Ayton’s “Progress” After the Centre Scores 26 Points in a Close Win for Suns

DeAndre Ayton was in his best form against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. His performance was crucial for the Suns in order to win the game. More experienced players like Chris Paul and Devin Booker also congratulated him and complimented his skill after the game.

The 22-year-old this season has shown some sterling efforts in games. This match-winning performance was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what he has done for the Phoenix outfit. In the post-game press conference, Chris Paul talked about how Ayton has contributed to the side.

He said, “Before I got here, I knew Ayton from AU. I coached against him in AU basketball. I got here and I had a chance to get to know him myself. It has been amazing to see how he has grown throughout the season. You know point guards and big men have different relationships than everybody.”

He continued, “It is great to see how he is taking everything in his stride and how he has progressed to becoming a better player.”

The Phoenix Suns Dominated the match right from the first quarter and did not lose their footing. The Kings tried to fight back, however, the Suns defense was resilient and prevented them from taking shots.

DeAndre Ayton was the top performer in this game as he finished with 26 points. Moreover, he racked up 11 rebounds during the course of this game. Apart from him, Devin Booker was back at his best in this game. He finished the game with 23 points and four assists to his name.

“We just had to gut it out,” Suns coach Monty Williams said. “I was really happy for (Ayton) to be able to be the guy down the stretch, taking advantage of his size against their switches.”

The Phoenix Suns are second in the Western Conference standings. At the moment, they are well in contention for the playoffs. Moreover, they will look forward to building upon their four-game winning streak ahead of the postseason.
