Fabio Quartararo will replace Valentino Rossi in the Yamaha MotoGP team in 2021. Quartararo will partner with Maverick ‘Mack’ Vinales who has extended his contract to 2020 in the team. Yamaha is rumored to soon announce the promotion of the Petronas satellite team driver, SRT Yamaha, that.

Quartararo is a prominent MotoGP rookie in 2019. The decision to promote Quartararo to the factory team was partly because the French driver was targeted by Team Ducati and Suzuki, after successfully making their debut marked by six pole positions and seven podium finishes.

Thus, this step will make Yamaha veteran star Valentino Rossi in a faltering position. The Italian racer was offered the option of taking Quartararo’s place in Petronas or retiring from MotoGP altogether.

Rossi will turn 41 on February 16, before the start of the 2020 season. He said he would be open to moving to SRT Yamaha if that meant he could extend his career.

‘I am very happy because I feel Yamaha as my team. I feel that we are moving in the right direction and for me, it is very important to make this announcement before the start of the season,’ Vinales said as quoted by the US.

‘I am very motivated. I want to focus on succeeding in 2020, without wasting time thinking about my future. Yamaha gave me a lot of support,’ Mack said after the agreement was announced to the public.

While Jorge Lorenzo prepares to get the team’s test role after retiring from MotoGP after one year in his contract with Honda. Jorge Lorenzo will return to Yamaha for the first time since 2016 as a test racer. Yamaha has formed a European test team for the first time in 2019, but he parted ways with test driver Jonas Folger before the end of the year.
