Valentino Rossi expressly acknowledges that he is better not to renew the contract with the Monster Energy Yamaha team if the results are not satisfactory in 2020. Conversely, if the results improve there is no harm in discussing the future.
In February 2020, Rossi will be 41 years old. If you see his age, it is difficult to reveal how much he can compete for the podium with young drivers.
Now all talks refer to next year. Understandably, 2020 is Rossi’s last moment to show off his ability to remember the contract with the Yamaha team will end.
Rossi also said that he had to have talks from the beginning whether to renew his cooperation with Yamaha or end his career as a racer.
“Next year will be very important. At the end of 2020, my contract expires, so, unfortunately, I have to decide immediately what to do, whether to continue or not. Logically, the decision to proceed or not will depend a lot on the results,” Rossi was quoted as saying from Autosport, Wednesday (12/25/2019).
“Our team has made some changes. We have to be more powerful than 2019. If not, it’s better not to renew the contract,” Rossi added.
