MotoGP: Zarco Aiming Lorenzo's Position at Repsol Honda

Johann Zarco

Johann Zarco is still looking for a MotoGP contract for the 2020 season. He was very enthusiastic if Honda opened the door for him to replace Jorge Lorenzo.

At the beginning of this season, Zarco was able to race with KTM. However, he broke the contract with the team in the middle of the season, due to difficulties riding his RC16 motorbike.

Currently, the French rider is replacing Takaaki Nakagami at the LCR Honda, who has to be sidelined by shoulder surgery. Zarco joined the Honda satellite team until the final race in Valencia.

Nevertheless, Zarco does not yet know how his future will be in the 2020 season. On the other hand, the continuation of cooperation between Repsol Honda and Jorge Lorenzo is questionable. Not a few who thought Lorenzo would leave following disappointing results.

Regarding his future after his contract with the Honda LCR ended, Zarco still did not know where his next destination was. However, the 29-year rider hopes to enter the manufacturer’s team, if Repsol Honda does not continue Lorenzo’s contract.

Zarco finished far better than Lorenzo at Phillip Island, Australia, although it had to be retired in Sepang, Malaysia. Repsol Honda may consider Zarco if it decides to eject the five-time world champion.

“I am not keeping my future a secret. I just don’t know what will happen,” Zarco was quoted as saying by Speedweek. “If Honda opens the door, then I will be the right choice. I am the only rider that is empty now, in a difficult situation like this I am willing to wait.”

“A dream come true if I can join the Repsol Honda team because I have tried the motorbike and are confident of being able to master it. Of course, there are still many things that need to be developed, and I want to take that opportunity to regain strength and become a top rider.”

“With Honda, I can allow them to put other riders besides Marc Marquez on the podium. Of course, Marc is a tough rider, but if I can use the motor well, then I can fight for the podium as well,” Zarco said.
