Jorge Lorenzo returned to strengthen the Yamaha racing team. Only, the Spanish rider will become a test racer.
Certainty was announced directly by the Yamaha team through a public statement on Thursday (1/30/2020). The following statement from the team bearing the tuning fork.
‘Yamaha Motor Racing is proud to announce that the five-time world champion and the very successful Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo will strengthen the Yamaha Factory Racing Test Team for the 2020 season,’ the statement said.
Yamaha is no stranger to the 32-year racer. Lorenzo began his career in the MotoGP event in the 2008 season with Yamaha, then won three MotoGP world titles there.
Lorenzo’s career dimmed after deciding to move to Ducati in 2017 and then strengthening Repsol Honda in 2019. After his first season at Honda, Lorenzo announced his retirement as a racer.
