Repsol Honda team manager Alberto Puig realized that Jorge Lorenzo did not have enough time to adapt to the RC213V motorbike. As a result, he has seen difficulty adjusting his mounts since he arrived at the Japanese manufacturer this season.
Puig stressed that the Honda team would make help to end the difficulties faced by Lorenzo. He hopes to find a solution for during the Thai Grand Prix, early next October.
“The positive is clearly victory and we have achieved it (referring to Marc Marquez). The negative is that Jorge did not have an easy time with our motorbike, we tried to help him as much as we could. We knew he was strong but unfortunately, it did not work as expected in this race. We need to find a different solution for the following Grand Prix, “explained Lorenzo quoted from Crash, Wednesday (09/25/2019).
Since arriving at the Honda team, Lorenzo was clearly having a hard time. Not only in the process of adapting to RC213V, but also with the injury problems he suffered.
After recovering from injury, X-Fuera’s performance was getting worse considering he only finished race 14th (Silverstone and San Marino), while in the last race at Aragon, he slumped to number 20. This minor result led to speculation if he intended to return to the team Ducati next season.
Even the German media (Speedweek), reported that HRC test driver Stefan Bradl is being seriously considered by the Honda team if the problem continues. But Lorenzo denied the news.
“Many people ask me this question and for the time being the possibility of giving up does not arise in my mind and I have a two-year contract with Honda. So, for now, I want to continue and let’s see if we can improve in this race,” concluded Lorenzo.
