Michael Chandler Reveals Why He Has Zero Enmity With Conor McGregor , Targets Dustin Poirier Over the Trilogy

Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier VS Conor McGregor trilogy is all set to happen on July 10 at UFC 264. The winner of this fight will likely be the number 1 contender for the lightweight championship, according to Michael Chandler.

Michael is set to lock horns with Charles Oliveira for the vacant 155-pound title in the headlining match on May 15. If Chandler wins, he said he won’t be steadfast about his first title defense. It is hard to deny Poirier or McGregor a title shot.

Chandler is not sure who will win the rubber match. However, it appears there’s more tension with “The Diamond” than with “The Notorious.” After defeating McGregor, Poirier said that he was not interested in fighting with Chandler. Since there has been beef building up between the two sides.

Michael said, “I’m going to be the champion and I hold the belt, but I’m not going to be the guy calling shots. You just look at the rankings and you look at the body of work of Dustin Poirier, he’s the obvious No. 1 guy right now.

He chose to take the money fight and pass up on the opportunity to fight for the title, so if he does beat Conor, he’s the obvious No. 1 choice. But if Conor beats the No. 1 guy, plus how big of a name he is, plus the star power of himself.”

People Want That Old Conor McGregor Back Ariel Helwani Explains How Mcgregor’s Trash Talking Helps Himself, UFC and Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier has spoken against Michael a lot.  He has called him the UFC “yes man” and said he’s fighting for “fool’s gold” at UFC 262. Chandler responded by uploading a video on his Instagram mocking Dustin.

However, he has not gone after Conor and has a perfect reason for doing so. He said, “Conor hasn’t really said my name at all. Not that that is a good thing or a bad thing. Poirier has. That’s fine. He can have his opinion of me. ‘I haven’t earned it’ or he’d rather sell hot sauce than fight me for the title, or it’s ‘fool’s gold.’ It was more directed at him because he’s been the guy that’s said the most.”

But all this talk is meaningless until and unless Michael defeats Charles Oliveira. Until now, Chandler was the face of Bellator, but now that he is in the UFC, it’s time to grab the opportunity and show everyone his talent and skills.
