Conor McGregor brags about beating United States (US) fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. The Irish fighter faces Cerrone in the 246 Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight duel at T-Mobile Arena, Paradise, Nevada, Saturday (01/18/2020).
McGregor (25 games-21 wins-4 loses) insisted that he would get better results from Cerrone. With the seriousness and intensity of the match at the Octagon, McGregor is confident that he will finish off Cerrone (50-36-13) in Las Vegas.
‘It’s really good to fight Cowboy. The Notorious (nickname McGregor) vs. Cowboy, I’ve seen the artwork and the things that fans have done, very interesting,’ McGregor told the Daily Mail.
‘I just want activity, I will go into battle, but I don’t want to rush. I want to master the round. I will put pressure on Donald and I will hurt him.’
‘But if he can survive, I will be happy and then I can develop this round. You will see many abilities from me, so it will be a very happy day for you all.’
‘Make no mistake, I came with all my determination and all my ability to get rid of Donald.’
Despite his promise to finish off Cerrone, McGregor said he was happy to be able to help his opponents get the best pay in his career. McGregor is said to get paid to perform worth 3.8 million pounds. Plus cash from sponsors and others can reach 60 million pounds.
‘In reality, this is a multi-million dollar McGregor fight. Donald is next, this will be a million-dollar battle for Donald.’
‘Talk about income records. How many times this guy fought and he never hit seven numbers and he would reach multi-seven numbers.’
Regarding his subsequent plans at the UFC, McGregor insisted he wanted to stay busy, and prepared a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia later this year.
‘Apart from the results between Ferguson and Khabib, I think I might have to face these two men, I want to face both. Of course, we have to make a rematch with Khabib, I encourage a fight in Moscow, I would love to do it.’
‘I understand, everyone asks who is the next opponent, who is next, for me it is just me who is next. I am next. I want to be fresh, ready, ready, and want to compete.’
When asked about how he dealt with the world of global fame and celebrity, McGregor added a dose of perspective that he might have lost in the past.
‘I think one day I will just go out and back away from it all because this is a wild and sometimes difficult game but I am glad for my support and position.’
