The prototype of the YZR-M1 2020 motorbike is said to be still constrained in terms of speed. Maverick Vinales tries to increase the speed of the motor by improving his racing style.

Two of Yamaha’s Monster Energy team riders, Valentino Rossi and Vinales, warned their paddock team about the top speed gaps in their motorbike prototypes while taking pre-season test sessions at Valencia and Jerez late last year. This problem is now being tried by Yamaha ahead of the start of the MotoGP 2020.

‘That is the main shortcoming that we need to correct. We don’t want to just direct all efforts at top speed and lose to other sectors, but obviously, we are quite difficult,’ said Yamaha Racing Manager Director, Lin Jarvis, quoted from Speedweek.

When Yamaha engineers worked hard to solidify the YZR-M1 2020 motorbike, Vinales is now focused on improving his racing technique on the track. According to him, this can help make the speed of the ride even faster.
