The Imola GP highlighted the improvements made by Ferrari to remain on track in this merciless competition. Mattia Binotto, the team principal of Ferrari was not satisfied with the ending but was quite happy with the improved car.
Despite spinning on his way to the grid, Leclerc drove a clean race and was on his way for a podium finish. He got the better of Perez on the first lap and jumped to second when Hamilton went off. However, after the restart, Leclerc lost out to a blazing Lando Norris. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton made a fantastic comeback.
Earlier, Mattia Binotto shared his thoughts on the race. He said, “On a completely different track and in very different conditions to the first race of the season. The fact we are unhappy about not getting at least one driver onto the podium is further proof of that. We can definitely say the outcome of these first two races is a positive one. Our goal for the season is to show once again that we can progress in all areas. I think we can do it. It is really a question of mentality”

Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto claims the Italian constructors are still lacking and will need three or four races to understand their potential.

Ferrari had a relatively poor overall performance in the 2019 and 2020 World F1 Championships. Mattia can’t even recall when he last had both drivers finish with points in consecutive races.
He said, “Not since the second half of 2019, specifically the races in Japan and Mexico that year, have we had both drivers in the points in two consecutive races. We must continue like this and show, race by race, that we know how to improve. Now I can’t wait to go to Portimão for the next Grand Prix!”
Ferrari has a mentality of never giving up, and they have shown it in the first two race. It’s a positive start to the season, and they must maintain this rhythm if they want to beat the top dogs.
