Marreese Speights has returned in the news recently over a tweet. On October 11, LeBron James and his team, Los Angeles Lakers, created history by winning the 17th NBA Championship by defeating Miami Heat and LeBron added a fourth title to his portfolio. It was a memorable moment for the Lakers after the unfortunate departure of their iconic teammate Kobe Bryant in January this year.
However, it appears that not everyone is happy with their victory. Marreese Speights, who’s last known for being an ex-Orlando Magic player, isn’t playing since the last few years, has sparked controversy by being vocal on NBA on Twitter. Speights last played for Orlando during the 2017-18 season, has shared a meme on Twitter that takes a dig at LeBron James for his 4-10 Finals record.
What Tweet Did Marreese Speights Share?
Although the tweet is no longer available on the official handle of Marreese, it has been deleted by him after receiving trolling in response. Ironic.
Following is the tweet that shows a screengrab of the tweet that was shared by him:

It says, “back then, and we used to celebrate three-peats, now kids are out there celebrating four titles in ten tries and call it greatness.”
It trolls LeBron James, who won his fourth title on Sunday. LeBron had previously won two titles consecutively in 2012 and 2013 while playing for Miami Heat and a third in 2016 when James was with Cleveland Cavaliers. This title was his fourth title while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Reactions to the Meme
However, the response it got was certainly not something he was expecting. Hence he ended up deleting it. Here are some hilarious reactions it got on Twitter:

Just a reminder that the last relevant thing he did was miss the last shot of the 2016 NBA Finals

Mo Speights went 4/18 for 2.0 ppg in the 2016 Finals against LeBron. Is he really the one for this?

It appears that LeBron won’t ever respond to the snarky tweet of Speight, but the Twitteratis have made sure that he won’t make such tweets next time.
Marreese Speight was defeated by LeBron James in 2016 when Marreese was in Golden State Warriors, and James was in the Cavaliers. That defeat didn’t go well with him. That’s why he is playing for obscure teams in the Chinese Basketball Association, Guangzhou Long-Lions, being precise.
Maybe Speights should introspect on where his career trajectory is going instead of throwing dirt on other players. It is not suitable for the ethics of sportsmanship. However, he did make sure that not trolling the other legends of Lakers like late Bryant or retired Jordan.
