Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United was not happy with the VAR’s decision in the match against West Borm. It was for the result in the match, the Red Devils lost the opportunity to catch up with the No.1 team in Premier League.
What happened in the match between The Red Devils vs The Baggies?
Manchester United faced West Brom on 14 February 2021. Further, West Borm played the match in their home ground, The Hawthorns. It was a very important match for both teams. For Manchester United, it was an opportunity to get closer to Manchester City. Whereas West Borm was playing to not relegate from the Premier League.
However, as soon as the match began, West Borm took the lead. Mbaye Diagne turned a beautiful cross assist into a goal from his teammate Conor Gallagher. Subsequently, this goal put a lot of pressure on the Red Devils. Bruno Fernandes finally equalized the score just a minute before the half time.

But after looking at the monitor, the referee Craig Pawson overturned the penalty. It was visible that Maguire was not happy with the decision.

After the match, Captain Maguire was asked to share his opinion about the VAR’s decision. However, it seemed like Maguire was on the verge to cry. Therefore, he mentioned that the VAR’s decision was a complete shock for him.
Maguire said, “I was so certain it was a penalty. It seems the decisions at the moment are going against us.“
The Red Devils did not lose the match. Nevertheless, the draw was not helpful for them either. Instead, their aim to get closer to the Premier League title got harder.
