Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks recorded a series victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. After winning the first game on Thursday, the Mavs were gunning for this game in order to strengthen their position in the conference.

Ever since the first quarter, this game was all about Luka Doncic. The Lakers defense had identified him as the troublemaker and was double-teaming him at every opportunity. However, the 22-year-old influenced the game to guide his team to a comprehensive victory.

In the post-game interview, Doncic talked about the game and how the team rallied to come back from a 17-point deficit. He said, “There was a lot of energy man. Everybody was playing hard, and we were missing shots in the first half. However, we came back strong and played great defense.”

He continued, “Clutch shots are easier for me than open shots. I don’t know what to say, but I feel confident taking those shots. It was the end of possession so I had to take it. I really like those kinds of shots.”

Luka Doncic was as good as ever in this game, as he finished with 18 points to his name. In a game where he was not given the space to score points, he adapted to the flow and provided a whopping 13 assists to his teammates. Apart from him, Dwight Powell had the game of his life in the second half, scoring 25 points and nine rebounds during the game.

“They were double-teaming me. In Europe I used to do this a lot,” Doncic said. “I know how it goes. But here the floor is wider, so it’s kind of easy.”

The Dallas Mavericks jumped to sixth in the Western Conference standings with this victory. At the moment, they are well on course to feature in the playoffs. Moreover, they have a three-game winning streak and will look forward to building upon that in the postseason.
